Meet Reuben and Kiara
Reuben and Kiara met during their college years at an Intervarsity Christian Fellowship conference. Through their involvement with Intervarsity, they began to date and both developed a passion for multicultural ministry. As a result, they both began to invest in the North Hill community after college. Kiara served as an Americorp Vista at the Exchange House and Reuben began to serve at Urban Vision and attend Northside Open Door Church. After they were married in 2019, Reuben and Kiara decided they wanted North Hill to become their long-term home through becoming homeowners.
Homeownership had always been a goal for Reuben and Kiara. Having been in the foster care system growing up, Reuben wanted to become a homeowner to create a stable place for his future family that he sometimes lacked during his childhood. For Kiara, whenever she thought about becoming a homeowner she remembered time spent with her great-grandmother at the home she owned with her great-grandfather and how it was an essential part of the stable and thriving life they built for themselves.
Reuben and Kiara heard about Legacies of Success’ Future Homeowner program through their involvement at Northside Open Door Church. After being accepted into our program, they enrolled in financial counseling and began volunteering on Saturdays to help transform their house on Keeney Street. After renting their future home for 6 months, they officially became homeowners in July 2021. Today Reuben and Kiara feel financially stable in their new life as homeowners and desire to use their home for ministry on Keeney Street.
